APPLIED METAL

We specialise in custom surface treatments. Our applied metal surfaces use real semi-precious metals that we apply and hand polish in our factory. Applied metal surfaces are suitable for interior and exterior applications. Our range of metals includes zinc, copper, brass, bronze, aluminium, nickel, iron, pewter, anthra zinc, gold nickel, silver nickel, rose alloy, armoury brass, sentinel copper, and treasury bronze.

Sample requests can be made to info@axolotl.com.au. We stock a vast range of flat samples showcasing our metal colours, textures and ageing effects. Custom samples with 3D profiles, carved and embossed designs can also be arranged for a fee. As our surfaces are available in a wide range of colours, textures and effects, it is best to follow our specification guide when specifying for your project.

TEXTURES

Below are examples of the range of textures our metals are available in: Cast, Pseudo Smooth, Smooth, Pitted, Light Texture and Lunar (Fine, Medium and Heavy). Special skin textures, Viper and Cayman, are also available.

PATINAS AND AGEING

By applying one (or more) of our aged effects, the colour and feel of our metals can be subtly or dramatically changed. Our patinas include: Black or Brown Florentine which darkens the metal, Verdigris which adds a powdery blue-green patina and Pearl Patina which adds a vibrant, pearlescent lustre. Ageing effects can be worked after treatment to expose the metal colour through as desired.

SURFACE EFFECTS - ROUTED, CARVED & EMBOSSED

Shallow routed and carved surface effects are created in the substrate using CNC machinery before metal coating. These designs are typically debossed 1-3 mm deep and can be created into our recommended door substrates or MDF from 9 mm thick. Embossed designs are created on the face of the surface, built up in our coating material.

Axolotl have a range of routed, carved and embossed designs to choose from or you may supply your own in a vector file format (AI, EPS, PDF, DWG, DXF). Below are examples of these effects, they are often paired with aged metals to create additional contrast.

SURFACE EFFECTS - 3D PRINTED

Intricate and multilayered embossed designs can be created with use of our flat bed 3D printer. Axolotl have a range of 3D embossed designs to choose from or you may supply your own in a .jpg or vector file format (AI, EPS, PDF, DWG, DXF).

SURFACE EFFECTS - 3D ROUTED

3D routed effects are created in to the substrate using CNC machinery before metal coating. These designs can vary from 3-15 mm deep and require thicker panels to accommodate the profiles.

Axolotl have a range of 3D routed designs to choose from or you may supply your own profiled panels for treatment. Below are examples of these effects, we typically achieve a polish on the highest points and a cast texture in the rebates.

Etched designs are keyed into the surface of our metal surfaces to create a subtle contrast. Ageing can be applied over this to achieve stronger effects.
