Light sculpture, bar surfaces and floor inlays: Axolotl

Axolotl’s scope
Fabricate Squelette and produce the hotel’s bar surfaces and brass floor inlays.
Materials and processes
Applied metal on machined sculpture components; aged brass inlays; zinc sheet metal with a distressed Florentine surface.
The challenge and response
More than 300 sculpture parts required assembly on site and a lightweight brass appearance. Applied metal gave the machined organic forms their material character, while the suspended assembly used gravity to hold its form.
