Machine Hall is a former Sydney substation regenerated by Built and YSG. Axolotl produced custom surfaces for its front entrance and mezzanine bar, bringing hand-worked metal into the industrial interior.

Create custom surfaces for the front entrance and mezzanine bar counter.
Materials and processes
Carved Lunar in Champagne Bronze for the counter; Carved Lunar in weathered Blackened Steel for the entrance.
The challenge and response
The sculptural counter and security entrance needed distinct treatments within the industrial interior. Bronze follows the bar’s curves and remains unsealed to develop a patina; the hand-polished and aged door surface is protected with a clear topcoat.
